Richard Friend is an independent consultant, researcher, and writer. He is a co-investigator for the Urban Climate Resilience in Southeast Asia (UCRSEA) partnership funded by the Canadian International Development Research Centre and Social Science and Humanities Research Council. UCRSEA is a research network addressing regionalization, urbanization, and climate change in Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. With a focus on governance and rights, his work attempts to better understand drivers of urbanisation in Asia, and how to forge inclusive and transformative urban futures.
