Debra Roberts oversees the Environmental Planning and Climate Protection Department in eThekwini Municipality in Durban, South Africa. She was responsible for leading the development of Durban’s approach to conserving biodiversity and addressing climate change. Debra is a key member of the South African United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiating team and was recently elected co-Chair of Working Group II for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Sixth Assessment Report. She is the Chief Resilience Officer for Durban within the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities Programme.
